I haven't been updating as much recently because I've been keeping busy with a new baby and dealing with 2 hurricanes (and a 3rd one is on the way). We've been very lucky. We had some roof damage and only one ceiling leak inside from hurricane Charley on August 14th-15th. We lost power but only for 3 days and spent the weekend at my sister's in Lakeland. Some of our friends were without power for 10 days. Several of our neighbors have severe roof damage, allowing a lot of water into the house (it just keeps raining like it always does this time of year). Our friends across the street had ceilings collapse in 3 rooms inside their house, and the water damage is still spreading to other parts of the house. Everywhere we look, there are plastic tarps on people's roofs (including ours) trying to keep the rain out. There is a LOT of tree debris stacked in piles along the streets of every neighborhood. Last week, before hurricane Frances hit, Shane spent the whole week helping friends and neighbors remove the debris Charley left behind from their yards. Luckily, Frances mostly fizzled out before it got to Orlando on Sept. 4th-5th, but we still had some power outages in the area (not us this time). Other parts of Florida, especially East Coast, were devastated by Frances. Now a third hurricane, Ivan, is threatening the west coast of Florida. We're praying that it will fizzle out or go a different direction.
Here are a few pictures after hurricane Charley.
